Many romanians will remember the epic depiction of Răpirea din Serai, a turkish tapestry that made its way into our parents’ and grandparents’ homes during the communist regime.
This particular tapestry has become an almost unironic symbol of nostalgia - seeing it often comes with a feeling of comfort for ages that are no more.
The original turkish tapestry was inspired from an opera authored by Mozart, “Die Entführung aus dem Serail”.
